Release date: Sept 10 2021. ‘Thalaivii’ is the biopic of the inspiring life journey of our former CM. J.Jayalalithaa, how a young actress reaches the iconic status in the Tamil industry and in due course becomes a powerful figure in politics as people started to call her ‘ thalaivi’,’ Amma’.
The story started with the astounding scene, which is going to cause a great Revolution at the end, where Jaya got disrobed and manhandled in the TN Legislative Assembly. She quoted the ‘Mahabharat’and vowed that she would enter into that place again as a CM. Then the screenplay goes on to the 60’s era.
The impact-full moment is when RMV(MJR’s loyalist) burns a semi-completed film along with its script and other properties just to put away the actress who misbehaved to his leader. At last, facing a lot of problems as Ina actress is raised to be a powerful leader but she again enters the Assembly; the rest of the story.
The film focuses on the rise of Jaya to when she eventually becomes CM. It perfectly attempted to transfer ourselves to the political atmosphere in the 60’s era, where the older people were able to enjoy the glorious past but the current view was where not much more got the attraction to it. The dance performances almost resembled the dance performances of MGR and Jayalalitha in those day’s movies. Till the end of the story, the name of the relationship between MJR and Jaya was not mentioned; thus director Vijay genuinely travelled about that line.
The names of the original people were substituted as MJR, Jaya, Karuna and others showing their good manners towards others.GV’s vintage background score and the making of the movie enhanced the story, which diverts us from notifying the lip Sync of Kangana at some places. After giving the music of ‘Asuran’, ‘Surarai Potru’, this was another Masterpiece of GV. The Baahubali writer Vijayendra Prasad also showed his presence with the ruckus dialogues of Jaya in the opening scene and also the political punches, with his screenplay differentiated the film from a documentary.Samuthirakani(RMV) who was the Tussle between MJR and Jaya, gave his acting with his eye itself throughout the story. The astonishing thing here was. The formal acting of award-winning Kangana now turned into a legendary one, especially seeing her sublime walk in the last scene that brought out the real Jayalalitha before our eyes. Also, I have to tell you about the acting of Aravind Swamy that lifted Jaya’s character, even though some Hero costumes of MGR were not matched to him, but the political costumes. Thus, from ‘Thalaivii’, the team gave a better try to cover almost all life journeys and struggles of Jayalalithaa, and also skipped many parts due to some political reasons. The movie made us get into the cinemas in the Olden age.The movie not only attained its aim to portray the biography of a leader but more than that the victory of a woman in a man’s world; who wrote her own destiny against all odds.
