When famine hit Africa many years ago, its people survived by drinking green water. Scientists were surprised to find that the water contained a type of algae called spirulina. Then they introduced the extraordinary protein in it to the outside world. It was followed by the business of spirulina cultivation. Spirulina was used across 77 countries in the world as WHO ( World Health Organisation) recognized that spirulina was considered as ‘interesting food’ for its dense nutrient content. Especially that it will be administered to children with malnutrition.
Spirulina is something that contains more protein than meat. By research, it will be stated that this may have antioxidant, pain relief, and brain-protective properties. Spirulina is arguably nature’s most powerful green.

He was explaining the techniques of growing Spirulina for us, “First we have to fill 20,000 litres of water in a 140×20 feet tank. Sodium bicarbonate, salt, potassium, magnesium, sulphate and urea were added in a proportional ratio as a feed. After three hours of pedalling it has to be live for 3 hours. At the end of 6 hours, ‘Thai paasi’, the seed of this blue-green algae was added.With letting it grow for a week, it will get ready for cultivation”.
